1. Purpose

This Refund Policy explains the circumstances under which Shiny Brains Foundation (“we,” “our,” or “the Foundation”) may issue refunds for donations or payments made through our website or affiliated fundraising platforms.
As a Florida-registered nonprofit organization, we operate in compliance with applicable state and federal laws governing charitable contributions, including the Florida Solicitation of Contributions Act (F.S. §496.411).

 

2. Donations

All donations made to Shiny Brains Foundation are considered final charitable contributions once processed.
Because donations are immediately applied toward our mission — supporting families and children with neurodevelopmental needs through education, therapy funding, and advocacy — we generally do not provide refunds except in limited circumstances described below.

Refunds May Be Considered Only If:

  • A duplicate donation was made in error

  • The donation was made by mistake (e.g., incorrect amount or unintended recurring payment)

  • The donation was not authorized by the cardholder or account owner

  • A technical error on our payment processor’s side caused an incorrect transaction

Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the original transaction date.

 

3. How to Request a Refund

  • Full name and contact information

  • Date and amount of the donation

  • Method of payment (credit card, PayPal, etc.)

  • Reason for the refund request

Our team will review your request within 10 business days and notify you of the outcome.
Approved refunds will be processed through the same method used for the original payment.

 

4. Event Registration Fees

In the event Shiny Brains Foundation hosts ticketed events or fundraisers:

  • Registration and sponsorship fees are typically non-refundable, as they help cover event preparation costs.

  • Refunds may be issued if an event is canceled or rescheduled and you cannot attend the new date.

  • Requests must be submitted within 14 days of the event cancellation notice.

 

5. Merchandise or Products

If you purchase merchandise or materials directly from Shiny Brains Foundation (e.g., shirts, educational guides):

  • Returns or exchanges are accepted for items that are defective or damaged upon receipt.

  • Refunds or replacements must be requested within 15 days of delivery by contacting support@shinybrainsfoundation.org.

Items must be unused and in original condition for a refund to be issued.

 

6. Tax-Deductible Donations

If a donation is refunded, the corresponding tax receipt is no longer valid.
You are responsible for ensuring accurate reporting on your tax return. Shiny Brains Foundation will issue an amended receipt reflecting any refunded amount if applicable.

 

7. Processing Fees

Please note that third-party transaction fees (e.g., credit card or PayPal processing fees) may not be refundable depending on the payment processor’s policy.
